The Angus area is brimming with things to do for those who like to live an active life. The area is home to some of the best facilities in the country, providing something for everyone.
Brechin Golf Club is an 18 hole course and driving range located on the edge of the town with a backdrop of the Grampian Mountains providing scenic views. The course offers memberships for gents, ladies, seniors and juniors; visitors are welcome on the course. Booking can be made online.
The town is home to Scottish League One team, Brechin City. If you are a supporter or player there are plenty of opportunities to take part. The established club has a range of men’s, ladies and youth teams. Full and 7-a-side pitches can be found at the leisure centre and high school for hire.

The area has lots of different cycling routes and trails for all ages and abilities. As a former railway junction, the closed line has now become a popular 4-mile route around the town. If you like things a little more adventurous, the popular Glen Clova offers many routes and, in particular, the view around the loch is spectacular.
Being centred in the middle of the Esk, Isla and Clova Glens, there are many spectacular walks on your doorstep. The town itself has many walks and trails. The Brechin Town circuit follows the nature trail and brings you through the charming town centre. A longer walk takes you alongside the South Esk River from the Brechin Bridge.
Tennis lovers will find six all-weather floodlit tennis courts located in nearby Montrose. An extensive range of coaching is available for all ages and stages, with memberships running all year.
You can take a dip in the high school swimming pool on Saturdays and Sundays. If you don’t mind travelling, Montrose has a new swimming pool, open to the public. There, you can choose from three pools as well as taking advantage of the sauna, steam room and relaxation areas.
Brechin Leisure Centre is open all week from 9am. The centre offers lots of facilities from a sports hall and fitness suite to an outdoor astroturf court.
